Creating jobs
The instructions below tell you how to create jobs for your company job master.
To create a job
From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Master Files, click Jobs. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Master Files > Jobs. The Job Master screen appears.
Click Add. In the bottom section of the screen, job entry fields appear.
Enter a job number. e-timecard automatically formats the number according to the mask that you set on the Company Setup screen.
Enter up to 30 characters in the first Job Description (user-defined label) field. This is the short description for the job that employees will see in e-timecard along with the job number.
In the second Job Description field, enter up to 256 characters for a longer description of the job.
Enter a job manager for this job. To look up valid employees, click to the right of the field.
The org9 defaults from the job manager. Accept this default, or enter a different org9 for this job. To look it up, click to the right of the field.
The start date defaults to the system date. You can override it if you wish.
Enter an end date for the job. Note that e-timecard can verify the job’s period of performance during time card entry, depending on your settings in the Initialization file.
Hint: You can enter dates manually. You can also click to the right of either date field to select a date from a calendar.
From the Cost Element Table (user-defined label) dropdown list, select a cost element table to determine which cost elements are valid for this job.
Click on the dropdown arrow for Job Status (user-defined label) and select one of the options. The default is Active.
If you wish, enter a contract labor category table. To look it up, click to the right of the field.
Click on the dropdown arrow for Used in and select one of the options.
Both Time Card and Expense: The job is available for use in both e-timecard and e-xpense. This is the default.
Time Card Only: The job can be used in e-timecard only.
Expense Only: The job can be used in e-xpense only.
Not Used: The job is not available in either application.
Click Update to commit your job entries.
