Using dates and status in a job

The start date and end date are both required in the job master; the start date defaults to the system date. These dates refer to the period of performance. Depending on your settings in the Initialization file, e-timecard can prevent employees from charging to jobs outside their period of performance.

You have the following options for the job status.

Setting

Explanation

Active

Accepts all charges within the start and end dates.

Inactive

Employees have stopped work on the job, even though they may not have completed it. Inactive jobs accept no charges or budgets.

Closed

All work is completed and the contract has received final audit approval.

Budget Only

Accepts only budget information. Employees cannot make charges against a budget-only job.

Open for Labor

Accepts only labor charges within the period of performance.

Milestone

You can create a milestone job to meet a billing requirement, but it accepts no cost transactions.

Error

If a job was opened incorrectly, you can set the status to error. An error job does not accept charges or budgets.
