What are your choices for earning code rank?

The earning code rank determines how employees use the codes on time cards. The codes that you create are the same codes the employee sees when selecting from the time card’s Pay Code (user-defined label) dropdown list and looking up from the Look Up Pay Code (user-defined label) screen.

If you use combination pay codes, you can select either Primary or Secondary from the Rank dropdown list. If you do not use combination pay codes, you must set to Primary any earning code that employees do not use as a special pay code.

Caution: If you do not use combination pay codes, setting the Rank field to Secondary makes that code unavailable for employees to select on time cards.

To designate an earning code as a special pay code, select Special from the Rank dropdown list.
