Using passwords for e-timecard

You do not have to enter an e-timecard password in the employee record. The first time that the employee logs into e-timecard, s/he can tell the system to create a temporary password. When the employee uses that temporary password to log in, the system prompts him/her to create a new, secret password. The employee can also request a temporary password at any time if s/he forgets his/her password.

As an alternative to letting the employee ask the system to create a temporary password, you can enter a password in the Reset Password to field in the employee record, then click Reset to the right of the field. You do not have to save the record to commit the password reset to the database; the reset is instant. The next time that the employee logs in, s/he will enter the password that you entered in the employee record, then be prompted to create a new, secret password.

Note: You can enter any characters that you wish in the Reset Password to field. The program does not verify whether your entry conforms to the password rules that you can set on the Parameter Setup screen. When the employee changes the password, however, s/he must follow the password rules.

Also note that depending on a setting on the Parameter Setup screen > Passwords tab, the option to reset the password can be hidden from the employee record.
