Using earning codes for straight time

e-timecard always uses any code with an earning class of Regular in the straight time calculation. If you want e-timecard to additionally use other codes in the straight time calculation, then you must check the Include in Straight Time box.

For instance, to count the vacation, sick, or holiday codes as hours worked, check Include in Straight Time for these codes. If an employee’s time card profile sets the premium pay threshold at 40 for a work week, then once the employee enters a total of 40 hours to regular, vacation, sick, and holiday codes, s/he can charge any additional hours to premium pay.

If you want e-timecard to ignore vacation, sick, and holiday as hours worked when determining the premium pay threshold, leave the check box blank.

Example

At our demo company, the e-timecard administrator sets up a time card profile called WEEK and enters 40 in the premium pay 1 field for the weekly total.

Then, the administrator creates the following earning codes:

On a time card, an employee attached to the WEEK time card profile has entered 38 hours to the REG earning code and two hours to the VAC earning code. Because s/he has already entered 40 hours to earning codes that are included in the straight time calculation, s/he can enter hours to the OVT code.

If the e-timecard administrator clicks the Mandatory Overtime check box in the time card profile, then the employee must enter any additional hours to OVT or receive an error.
