Defining standard codes for an employee type


Follow the instructions below to set up standard codes for an employee type.

Hint: You should give payroll earning codes an Effective Date Through sufficiently far in advance that employees will not encounter error messages during time card entry.

To define standard codes for an employee type

  1. From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Master Files, click Employee type standard codes. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Master Files > Employee Type Standard Codes. The Standard Codes screen appears.

  2. From the Employee Type Table dropdown list, select the employee type for which you want to add standard codes. The bottom section of the screen displays any standard codes that already exist for this employee type.

    If you created the regular code on the Employee Types screen, then it automatically defaults onto this screen.

  3. Click Add. In the bottom section of the screen, standard code entry fields appear.

  4. Enter a valid earning code, or click html/lookup.gif to the right of the field to look it up.

  5. Enter an Effective Date From to set the date when the code will be effective. The default is today’s system date.

  6. Enter an Effective Date Through to set the date when the code will no longer be used.

    Hints:
    You can enter dates manually. You can also click html/calendar_arrow.gif to the right of either date field to select a date from a calendar.

  7. Click Update to commit your standard code entries.

  8. Repeat from step 3 as needed to define additional standard codes for the same employee type.
