Deleting valid values

Follow these instructions to delete a valid values record if needed. When you delete a valid values record, you delete only the variable code and its associated data; you cannot delete a table ID.

Caution: You should not delete a variable code that is referenced in any record. If you need to delete a variable code that you have already entered in a record, first change the code in the employee, job assignment code, or currency record.

To delete a valid values record

  1. From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Application Setup, click Valid values. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Application Setup > Valid Values. The Valid Values screen appears.

  2. In the Filters section, enter one or more search criteria for the variable code that you want to delete. Your filter choices are: table ID, variable code, description.

    Hints:
You can enter partial information in a filter field, such as A to retrieve all variable codes that begin with A, or %A to retrieve all variable codes that contain the letter A. You can leave all filter fields blank to retrieve all variable code records.

  3. Click Retrieve to list variable code records that match the criteria you entered. The results appear in the bottom section of the screen.

  4. If needed, scroll to find the variable code that you want to delete. JAMIS displays the records in ascending order by table ID. You can sort the list differently by clicking the appropriate column heading once or twice.

  5. Click Delete to the left of the variable code that you want to delete. A message asks you to confirm that you want to delete this variable code.

  6. Click OK to commit your deletion.

  7. Repeat the appropriate steps as needed to delete additional variable codes.
